Being able to well on a test is
really something that comes from being able to study well.
Thinking
that you are going to cram six or eight weeks worth of information into your
brain, by studying all night before a test will only result in
exhaustion.
This kind of activity will only feed into your short-term
memory. By the time it comes for you to take your test, you'll only remember a
small portion of what you thought you knew the night before.
That is
what this whole site has been built about.
Understand the necessary
steps that you must take each and every day to prepare for when the time comes
for you to demonstrate how well you've learned your materials.
If you
learn the skills that this website has to offer, you will be prepared for a
test on any given day. Even a pop quiz.
Taking your notes properly,
staying organized, knowing how to read your material, and pick out the key
points, are the skills that will help you to do better on your tests.
If
you have been paying attention, and listening in class, as well as taking your
notes, and keeping up on your schoolwork all along, the material that you've
covered will have a structure in your mind already.
Each different topic
has been presented to you in an orderly fashion, with one leading into the
next.
Your mind has absorbed that information, and created its own paths
of association, and mental images.
All it should take for you to get a
good grade, is some concentrated review.
If you know that a big test is
coming up, and it will, the best thing you can do is to get out your notes, and
your teatbook, and review them over the course of a few days.
Going over
your notes first, will refresh all of the key points in your mind.
Afterward, get out your text book, and review the material by going
through the chapters, and scanning the paragraphs, the bold, the italics, the
review at the end of the chapters.
Just follow the tips from the other
pages of this website, and make them a part of your every day study
habits.
You'll do just fine.
Remember, you are learning new
skills, and it will take some time before you make them into habits. You
probably won't see a big difference right away.
Give it some time, and
don't be discouraged.
Your obviously want to do well in your classes, or
you wouldn't have come here.
Just keep at it.
